Shoemake is currently the associate judge of the 328th District Court serving Fort Bend County, hearing family law matters. He is the former chairman of the Houston Bar Association Social Security Section and a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Fort Bend County Bar. He has served on the board of directors for the Exchange Club of Quail Valley and the Fort Bend County Children’s Protective Services, and is a past private school board president. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserve for four years, leaving with an honorable discharge in 1976.

Judge Shoemake received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston, Bates College of Law.
