Phil Camus was appointed to the position of Constable by Commissioner's Court on May 1, 2007 and is honored by the appointment. Constable Camus will continue to maintain the professionalism, integrity, and accountability of Harris County Precinct Five.

A long time resident of Houston, Constable Camus has dedicated his professional life to community service. After four years in the United States Air Force, he joined the Houston Police Department in 1957. During his 28 years with HPD he worked in the Patrol, Traffic, and Special Operations Divisions where he developed his foundation in law enforcement.

In1985 Phil Camus joined Precinct Five as a Deputy in the Contract Deputy Program and was promoted through the ranks to Chief Deputy when Constable Glen Cheek took office in January, 1989. During his 22 year career with Precinct Five, Constable Camus served in both the Civil and Patrol functions and has worked in every commissioned position.

After 50 years of service to the community, Constable Camus has accumulated invaluable knowledge and "hands on" experience. He is a proactive / progressive leader who believes in dedication, honor, and teamwork. His goal is to enhance and develop superior services and programs for the benefit of this community.

Constable Camus has been married to his wife Margaret for 19 years. They are involved in the community and enjoy many activities together, particularly in Galveston where they have a second home. Phil is very interested in fitness, has a real love for gardening, and is particularly fond of his two German Shepherds; Eagle and Solo. He is a member of the 100 Club and the Houston Retired Police Officers Association.
