Personal Information

Paul R. Beane was elected to serve on the Lubbock City Council as the District 4 Representative in June 2008. District 4 is located in southern Lubbock, with population of 34,000 (82.9 percent Anglo, 12.1 percent Hispanic, and 2.7 percent African-American).

Family Life
A lifelong Texan, Paul was born in Hunt County, Texas, and has been a resident of Lubbock for more than 44 years. He and his wife Frances have shared 48 years of marriage together and enjoy two children and four grandchildren. Paul and Frances are members of the Baptist Church. Paul is also an avid fisherman as well as a member of the National Rifle Association and the United States Golf Association.

Professional Life
Paul has been in the radio and television broadcast industry for 52 years. He was the first News Director for Channel 28, the former owner of six radio stations within the South Plains, the General Manager of KRBL-FM, and was nominated to the Texas Radio Hall of Fame. In 2000, Paul was honored as a “Big Ed” Wilkes Media Pioneer Award recipient, and Congressman Randy Neugebauer honored Paul before the U.S. House of Representatives for service as a broadcaster to Lubbock and West Texas. In 2003, he was awarded the Businessman of the Year from the National Republican Congressional Committee’s Business Advisory Council, and in 2006, he was named Distinguished Citizen of the Year by the Elk’s Club.

Community Activities
Paul has served with the Lubbock Centennial Committee, Covenant Hospital committees, Lubbock Salvation Army Board, the Lubbock Housing Authority, Campfire Girls, and the Red Raider Club.
