Munson is a rancher and board member and past president of Texas Gulf Bank in Angleton. He is a member of the Brazoria County Fair Association, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, and Angleton Planning and Zoning Commission. He is a board member of the Angleton Danbury Medical Center, and board member and past president of the Brazoria County Cattlemen's Association. He is also past chair of the Brazoria County Appraisal District, past board member of the Angleton Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Angleton Optimist Club, and a past member of the Angleton Rotary Club.

Munson attended the University of Houston and is a graduate of the Southern Methodist University Southwestern Graduate School of Banking.
