Elected in November of 2010, Judge Katy Hubener is a native of Southwest Dallas County and Duncanville, Texas. She has spent a great majority of her life living and working in Precinct 4. Hubener is a 1988 graduate of Duncanville High School. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University and Master of Arts degree from Claremont Graduate University. She is married to David McKamie and she has a step-son Kyle, a foster daughter, Laila, and a daughter-in-law, Carly.

Hubener credits her success to her family. Her mother Ann Hubener is a successful entrepreneur and community activist. Her brother, James is a Trustee serving precinct 4 on the Dallas County School Board.

Serving in one of the busiest courts in the State of Texas, Judge Hubener hears a heavy docket of criminal and civil cases. The court receives close to 12,000 filings annually, including approximately 4,000 eviction cases, 2,500 justice cases, 5,000 class C offenses including traffic, truancy, tollway violations, and issuance of a bad check. In addition, the court holds multiple administrative hearings including tow hearings, property seizures, driver’s license suspensions, and handgun license revocations.

Hubener has made lifelong education a priority and has been admitted into the College of Justice Court Judges by the Texas Justice Court Judges Association.

Prior to taking office, Hubener was involved in multiple entrepreneurial endeavors, including ownership of a real estate management firm and a small-town newspaper. She was recognized as the Entrepreneur of the Year from Women’s Council of Realtors. She is a certified Texas teacher and a licensed Realtor.
