Ned Holmes is a successful businessman, philanthropist and civic leader with decades of experience in leading organizations of various sizes. With a career in finance and real estate spanning more than 40 years, Holmes has also been an active supporter of economic development in Houston, including five years on the City of Houston Planning Commission and longtime involvement with the Port of Houston Authority including time as commissioner, chairman and chairman emeritus. He served as chairman of the Greater Houston Partnership in 1999 and served on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission from 2003 to 2007. Holmes resigned from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission in 2007 when he became a Commissioner of the Texas Transportation Commission, a position he held until June of 2012. Holmes graduated from both the University of Texas and the University of Texas Law School.
