Notes

Passed during the 81st Session of the Texas Legislature, the agency was created in June 2009 when Governor Rick Perry signed House Bill 3097 in law. TxDMV became operational on November 1, 2009.

The board administers and enforces statutes relating to certificates of title and registration of vehicles, identifying markings on commercial motor vehicles, motor carrier registration, single state registration, motor transportation brokers, foreign commercial motor transportation, sale or lease of motor vehicles, and salvage vehicle dealers.
