Sheriff Richardson is not running for relection in 2020.

Joel Richardson of Canyon is sheriff of Randall County, and former chief deputy, criminal division lieutenant, criminal investigator and special crimes investigator for Randall County. He is chair of the Potter-Randall 911 District Board, and a member of the Texas Jail Association, Texas Panhandle Peace Officers Association, American Correctional Association and United Peace Officers of America. He is a member and past president of the Texas Chief Deputies Association and Canyon Rotary Club, past chair of United Way of Amarillo and Canyon, and a past board member of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas and March of Dimes. Richardson received a bachelor's degree from West Texas State University. Reappointed 9/2013
