Appointed by President George Bush to be the Assistant Secretary of Education for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education, 1990-93. Deputy Assistant Secretary for Law Enforcement at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, 1989-90. Special Assistant to the Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice, 1988-89. Federal prosecutor, 1984-88. Recipient of the U.S. Attorney General’s Special Achievement Award, 1988. Former chairman of the Texas Juvenile Probation Commission. Member of the Railroad Commission 1999 to present. Current term ends December 2014.
