J.M. “Mike” Lowrey, has served on the Port Commission since 1994 and is president and chief executive officer of Miken, Inc., a Clute-based provider of insulation, industrial roofing, scaffolding and related services for commercial, industrial and marine markets. He is a member on the boards of directors for Texas Gulf Bancshares, Inc. and Texas Gulf Bank, NA.
A Lake Jackson resident since 1956, Lowrey holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Lamar University. He served Governor George Bush as an appointee to the Texas Workers’ Compensation Insurance Facility and Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission.
Lowrey enjoys spoiling his grandchildren, as well as investing in securities and real estate. He is a devotee of Texas history, in particular Texas Rangers, in which his great-grandfather served. He also likes antique autos, auto restoration and attending auto auctions.
