Glenn A. Carlson began his career with Port Freeport in 2012 as the Executive Port Director and Chief Executive Officer. Glenn is responsible for the overall management of the Port and maintains a close working relationship with the Port Commission. Glenn has an extensive background in port operations and the transportation industry spanning over 37 years. He joined the North Carolina State Ports Authority as managing director of business development in 2004 and was promoted to chief commercial officer/senior vice president of liner services, business & economic development in 2010. He was responsible for sales, marketing and pricing activities for the Port's business lines, including containers, bulk and breakbulk business activities. He was accountable for the recruitment of transportation related industry supporting international trade. He also served as vice president of operations for Aqua-Gulf Transport, Inc. in Florida. He worked for Sea-Land Service, Inc. for 26 years in various sales, operational and logistics positions, including an international assignment in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, responsible for Sealand's business activities in Brazil and Argentina.
He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and served in the US Navy for six years.
He and his wife, Elizabeth, have been married for 40 years and have two married children.
