Personal Information
Steen served as the 108th Texas Secretary of State. He is an attorney, a fellow of the San Antonio Bar Foundation and a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. He is an executive committee member of the University of Texas System Chancellor's Council, vice chairman of the University of Texas at San Antonio Development Board, and a member and past chairman of the World Affairs Council of San Antonio Distinguished Leaders Council. He is also a past member of the Austin College Board of Trustees, past member and past vice chair of the San Antonio Community College District Board of Trustees, now Alamo Community College District Board of Trustees, past president of the Fiesta San Antonio Commission, a former commissioner and past chair of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, a past board member of the Texas Public Safety Commission, and a past member of the Texas Commission on Economy and Efficiency in State Government. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Steen received a bachelor's degree from Princeton University and a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law.
