Personal Information

Karl has more than 23 years of experience in the behavioral healthcare profession. He has provided clinical services to youth in state, county, and local youth service organizations and has dedicated his life to improving the quality of care to families in need. Karl holds a Master’s degree in counseling psychology from the University of Houston, University Park, and specializes in youth development and child safety. He continued his post-graduate studies at the University of Houston, where he acquired advanced clinical training in the doctoral counseling psychology program.

Karl is Co-founder and President of Universal Educational Learning Center, Inc., a non-profit educational resource distribution corporation, serving the youth of Texas. Karl is also the founder of Universal Time Release Publishing (UTRP), a privately owned company dedicated to developing child safety products and improving youth self-esteem and coping skills.

Karl Floyd is the creator of the Professor Gulu’s Child Safety Series and the author and producer of 14 musical safety CDs and fourteen educational child safety books. Karl is a member of the Texas State Governor’s Board of Commission and the first mental health professional ever appointed by the Governor to the Statewide Health Coordinating Council. He is licensed both in the State of Louisiana as a Marriage and Family Therapist and in New York State as a Mental Health Counselor. In addition, the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists and Psychodiagnosticians certified him as a “Fellow and Diplomate.”
