Personal Information

David Gaultney was born October 20, 1954, in Eku, Nigeria. In 1972 he graduated from Hillcrest High School in Jos, Nigeria. He received a Bachelor of Arts Decree with highest honors from Southwest Texas State University in 1976, a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree with honors from The University of Texas in 1979, and a Master of Laws Degree from The University of Houston in 1993.

He practiced law with the law firm of Mehaffy & Weber for 21 years, and obtained certifications in Civil Appellate Law, Civil Trial Law, and Personal Injury Trial Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.

David Gaultney was elected to his current position as Justice of the Ninth Court of Appeals in 2000. He was appointed to a three-year term on the Texas Supreme Court Advisory Committee in 2003, and to a second term on the Committee in 2006.
