Personal Information

Sturns is a general practice attorney with Mallory and Sturns. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Tarrant County Bar Association and the Tarrant County Black Bar Association. Sturns is a former member on the advisory board for Texas Wesleyan University Law School and is a former director and founding fellow of the Tarrant County Bar Foundation. He is a board member of the Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce and is the former chairman of the Tarrant County Silver Gavel Committee. Sturns also served as judge of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals from 1990 – 1991 and as judge of Criminal District Court No. 1 serving Tarrant County from 1987 – 1990. He is a former member of the Texas Juvenile Justice Advisory Board and the Texas Ethics Commission. Sturns is a member of the Texas Racing Commission but will be resigning to accept his appointment to the Texas Public Safety Commission.

Sturns received a bachelor’s degree in political science from Wichita State University and a law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law.
