Personal Information

Miles is director of community projects for Bexar County district attorney Susan Reed, and was appointed by Bush to the Texas Medical Board in 1997 and reappointed by Perry in 2003.

Miles previously served in the U.S. Air Force and as first director of the Work Release Program of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. He volunteers on the board of directors for the United Way and is adjunct professor of American and Texas Politics for Palo Alto, San Antonio, and St. Phillip’s colleges. He previously served as first vice president of the San Antonio Branch of the NAACP, president of Live Oak’s Economic Development Corporation, and mayor pro-tempore for the City of Live Oak.

Miles earned his bachelor’s degree from North Carolina A&T State University, and master’s degrees from Phillip’s University, the University of Oklahoma and Troy State University.
