Personal Information

Bob Kelly, the Mayor, and his wife of 38 years, Linda, have lived in West University Place for 32 years, during which time they raised two daughters: Colleen, a physician in Dallas, and Susan, who just received her law degree from the University of Texas Law School. Bob has served West University and this community as Mayor Pro Tem/City Council member, Charter Review Committee member, Parks and Recreation Board member, President of the West U Elementary PTA, President of the West U Soccer Club, President of the Lamar High School Athletic Booster Club, board member of Tri-Sports Association, member of several special City Council committees, board member of the Pershing Middle School and Lamar High School PTA's and head coach of the West U Girls' Soccer and Softball teams for over 10 years; he was three times awarded the Certificate of Appreciation from HISD. Bob served our country for 5 years as a Captain on active duty with the United States Air Force, and he received a B.B.A. degree with a major in management from The University of Texas at Austin, an M.B.A. degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco and a J.D. degree from the University of Houston Law Center. Bob is rated AV, the highest rating for legal ability and ethical standards, by Martindale-Hubbell and is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. Bob has practiced law in-house with several major corporations over the past 33 years and is currently with the law firm of Abbott, Simses and Kuchler.
