Mark A. Burroughs is co-founder and shareholder of the law firm Sawko & Burroughs, P.C. of Denton, Texas. He is professionally licensed to practice in all Texas Courts, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the United States Court of Federal Claims and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Mayor Burroughs is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Denton County Bar Association and the U. S. Court of Federal Claims Bar Association. He is a charter member of the Texas Pro Bono College of the State Bar (1997 to present).

Mayor Burroughs is a graduate of the University Of Texas School Of Law in 1982. He is an honors graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University majoring in Business (BBA-economics), History and Political Science, graduating in 3 years during which he also was elected Student Body President, Vice President and Freshman President.
