Personal Information

Darby was appointed by Governor Rick Perry as board member of the Texas Facilities Commission. The Houston native was nominated by House Speaker Tom Craddick, and he replaces former Commissioner Jim Duncan, who resigned in August of 2008. Commissioner Darby is a partner with the Houston Commercial real estate law firm of Shanks Darby McCabe & Ward. He practices in the areas of commercial and residential real estate law as well as commercial litigation. Commissioner Darby received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree Cum Laude in finance - with a concentration in Real Estate Finance - from Angelo State University in San Angelo. He received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in 2005 and is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Texas Young Lawyers Association, Houston Bar Association, Houston Young Lawyers Association, Houston Realty Breakfast Club, Texas Mortgage Bankers Association, Texas Association of Mortgage Brokers and the National Association of Professional Mortgage Women.
