Personal Information

Frederick Adolph Terry ran for his first term on the San Marcos City Council and was elected on November 4, 2008. Sworn into office on November 17, 2008 by the Honorable Judge Bill Henry at a Special City Council Meeting.Fred is proud of being a native Texan, born in Houston, Texas to Elmer Arthur and Anita Lehrmann Terry on December 4th many years ago and has been serving his family, church, city, county, state and country all his life.

Fred had served on the City of San Marcos Planning and Zoning Commission for the previous six years, first as a commissioner for two years, Vice Chairman for one year and Chairman for three years. Because of term limitations with his place on the Commission, the seat on the City Council being vacated by Daniel Guerrero was his next step serving the citizens of San Marcos.

Fred is a Realtor with the San Marcos Area Board of Realtors and has been for some ten years. He has served as Chairman of the Political Action Committee within the Board and is presently on the Central Texas Multiple Listing Service Board representing SMABOR.

Fred served our country in the United States Navy from 1974 to 1993, retiring as a chief Gunner’s Mate Missiles. He served on board the USS Dahlgren DDG-43, active duty and Naval Ship Weapon Systems Engineering Station, Port Huemene, California reserve duty.

Graduating from the Houston Independent School district in 1969 and while serving in the Navy, Old Dominion University in Hampton, VA acquired an Associates Degree in Business Administration. He received his Bachelor of Business Science Degree in Purchasing and Material Management from The University of Houston in 1994.

Affiliations include the National Association of Realtors; the Texas Association of Realtors; San Marcos Area Board of Realtors; American Planning Association Texas Chapter; San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce; St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of New Braunfels.
