Ken Sapp was elected to the City Council in May 2006, was re-elected in 2008 and was unopposed in 2010. Prior to this time, he served on the Planning & Zoning Commission, Capital Improvements Advisory Committee and the Zoning Board of Adjustment. He is the current NRH board representative to the Northeast Tarrant Chamber of Commerce and serves on a broad variety of committees.
He is a Fort Worth native and graduated from Castleberry High School, attended Tarrant County College and Texas Christian University. Ken's initial work experience was in Aerospace where he worked at General Dynamics and LTV Aerospace in Tool Manufacturing Engineering.
His career took a different turn following cutbacks in the Aerospace industry and he started what was to be a very successful 30-year career. Ken entered the Insurance business with Aetna as an agent. Later, he became a supervisor and Marketing Manager for the North Texas Territory. In 1987, he transferred to corporate headquarters in Hartford, Ct. where he remained for 11 years.
During this time, he served as Head of Operations for the Life Insurance Company and was founder of and Officer in Charge of Aetna Life Brokerage. He commuted to Bryn Mawr, Pa. during this time to complete his college residency and earn a Master of Science Degree in Financial Services.
After Aetna sold his Division to a competitor, he accepted the position of President of the Brokerage Division of Zurich Kemper Life in North Barrington, Illinois and remained there until moving to North Richland Hills in 2001.
Ken and his wife Karen are proud residents of North Richland Hills and share a deep commitment to the community. Ken has three children and his oldest son, daughter and three grandchildren are NRH residents. Karen has two children and two grandchildren. Ken is self employed and is sole owner of NPG Holdings, LLC. He is a board member and Past President of the Thornbridge Homeowners Association, is active in his church, First Baptist Euless and participates in numerous charitable and community service activities.
