Personal Information

Ragain is chief of staff and chief medical information officer at the Texas Tech University Medical Center, where he also serves as chairman of the Department of Family Medicine. He is also associate medical director for Hospice of Lubbock. He is a member of the American and Texas Medical associations; American, Texas and South Plains chapters of Family Physicians; and Lubbock, Crosby and Garza Medical societies. He is also a member of the American Association of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Association of Departments of Family Medicine, American Association of Family Practice Residency Directors and Society for the Teachers of Family Medicine. He is chair of the Texas Tech University Medical Center Medical Records Committee and Electronic Health Record Implementation Committee, and a member of the University Medical Center Executive Committee. Ragain received a bachelor's degree from Austin College and a medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He is appointed for a term to expire Aug. 1, 2015, and will serve as chair at the pleasure of the governor.
