Robert "Bobby" Lerma of Brownsville is an attorney in private practice and a Brownsville assistant city attorney. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Texas DWI Defense Lawyers Association and Cameron County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and a board member and past president of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He is a member of the South Texas Independent School District Board of Trustees, board member and past president of the Sombrero Festival, and past president of the Cameron County Sheriff's Reserve. He is also a past board member of the American Cancer Society of Brownsville, Valley Zoological Society and Brownsville Community Health Clinic, and past member of the Texas Juvenile Probation Commission and the Governor's Criminal Justice Advisory Council. Lerma received a bachelor's degree from Texas A&I University and a law degree from the South Texas College of Law.
