Personal Information

James Evans was elected to Place 2 of the Greenville City Council in May 2013.

Evans was born in Greenville and graduated from Greenville High School. He received a B.S. in Elementary Education and a M. S. in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce

Evans has been employed by the Greenville Independent School District since 1975 and currently serves as the Principal of the Greenville Sixth Grade Center. He previously served as Principal for Lamar, Travis, Crockett, and Carver Elementary Schools, and also served as the GISD Director of Transportation from 1977-1981. Evans also taught at Crockett Elementary School and Quinlan Junior High.

Evans was named Principal of the Year in 2013 by the Hunt/Hopkins County African American Leadership Conference, and has won awards from the Texas Education Agency, Greenville Chamber of Commerce, GISD City Council PTA and was a Greenville Classroom Teacher's Association Administrator of the Year. Evans is a National PTA Honorary Life Member.
