Gov. Perry Appoints Five to Texas Military Preparedness Commission

Gov. Rick Perry has appointed five members to the Texas Military Preparedness Commission. The commission advises the governor and Legislature on defense-related issues, prepares an annual report for state leaders and helps base commanders prepare for the next round of base realignment evaluations.
Anna Arredondo Chapman of Del Rio is deputy city secretary for the City of Del Rio. She is a member of the Texas Physician Assistant Board, district deputy of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, president of Los Amigos Del Cementerio Loma De La Cruz, and secretary of the Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Pan American Round Table of Texas. She is a past member of the Texas Municipal Clerks Association, American Society of Military Comptrollers, National Contract Management Association, Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Society of the Jesuit Institution of Higher Education, and State Bar of Texas Grievance Committee. She served as a civilian in the U.S. Air Force. Chapman received a bachelor's degree from Sul Ross State University and a Master of Business Administration from Regis University in Colorado. She is appointed for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2015.
Charles Powell of San Angelo is chairman of the Community Bank Board for Wells Fargo Bank in San Angelo. He is a life member of the Air Force Association, U.S. Naval Academy Association and the Distinguished Flying Cross Society, and a member of the Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee. He is also a board member of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, Military Fire Fighter Heritage Foundation and The Janus Project, and chairman of the San Angelo Regional Airport Advisory Board. He served as a colonel in the U.S. Air Force. Powell received a bachelor's degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and a master's degree in industrial engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He is reappointed for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2019.
Connie Scott of Robstown is former member of the Texas House of Representatives. She is a member of Texans for Lawsuit Reform, the Texas Civil Justice League and National Rifle Association, and a board member of Bay Area Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse and the USS Lexington Museum. She is also a board member and past president of the Corpus Christi State School Volunteer Council, and past board vice chairman of the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority.
