Personal Information

Alcala is a retired civilian employee of the U.S. Air Force, and a management consultant, trainer, motivational speaker and owner of Alcala and Associates. She is the past mayor of Del Rio. She is chairwoman of the International Good Neighbor Council Abrazo Celebration Committee and the Pan American Round Table Scholarship Committee, and vice chairwoman of the Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She is president of the Del Rio United Way, a member of the Border Federal Credit Union Board of Directors and an emeritus board member of New Mexico Mathematics, Engineering and Science Achievement Inc. She is also a past member of the Texas Military Preparedness Commission, Texas State University System Board of Regents, Texas Department of Rural Affairs, Middle Rio Grande Regional Review Committee and the Office of Rural Community Affairs. She is also a certified ombudsman for the Texas Area Agency on Aging.

Alcala received a bachelor's degree from Sul Ross State University and a master's degree in management from Webster University
