Personal Information

Lou Hoffman grew up in San Antonio. His parents bought the then Scenic Loop Playground property in 1957 that he and Freda, his wife call home. Back then, however, it was just a three room cabin with no electricity, a weekend retreat where hot dogs and hamburgers were cooked in the fireplace after visits to the swimming hole. He graduated Robert E. Lee High School and received a Naval ROTC college scholarship. With graduation from the University of Texas and an officer’s commission, Lou next earned his wings and flew carrier jet aircraft while sailing oceans world wide. Following military service, a career as a professional airline pilot followed until retirement in 2015.
