Personal Information

Eastman graduated from the University of Texas in 1992 with a Bachelor's degree in Art History and earned a Master's in social work in 1993 from Our Lady of the Lake University. After receiving her degree, Eastman worked as a lead social worker for Communities in Schools in San Antonio. Eastman and her husband, Brad, also co-founded the 11½ Street Foundation, which recognizes outstanding veteran teachers with monetary awards. Currently, she serves on the leadership team of the Community Advisory Group to the University of Texas School of Public Health Prevention Research Center, whose focus is adolescent sexual health. She was elected to the Houston ISD school board in 2009.
